Dream Theater’s song About to Crash examines a girl suffering from bipolar disorder.  This condition of diametric extremes, where racing thoughts can bring clarity or confusion, places the subject, flying high in the midst of euphoria, a breadth away from a fall into the depths of depression.  In Silent Duplicity, the audience experiences the manic cycle of the “perfect” girl through her senses as she accelerates toward a wall she knows is there but cannot see.
